What is the Reingardt Project?

About me

My name is Emilia, I am 22 and I am a communication designer, proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). My projects explore cultural heritage, nature, memory, and human experience. For most of my life, I was told that I am overly sensitive. I thought that this make me less capable of understanding the world objectively. And yet, the more I explore and create, the more I realize that sensitivity is not an obstacle, but a tool for engaging with reality. Growing up in Siberia, where the power of nature and diverse folk traditions are deeply rooted in everyday life, I reached an almost hypnotic fascination with natural rhythms, cultural rituals, the traces of human presence. I am drawn to the raw and imperfect, to naive art, vernacular objects, and traditional craftsmanship — sentimental things that preserve memories.

I named collection of my works Reingardt Project — a portfolio that brings together my art sensitivity and personal interests. It is a reflection of my identity, my way of seeing the world.

'Reingardt' was borrowed from my german ancestors and transformed into an alter ego. Metaphorically, it is an invisible thread connecting my present identity to people, places, and stories I may never fully know.

The James Castle’s House, 2025

The house becomes a key metaphor for shelter, constructed spaces and internalized memory spaces in the work of folk artist James Castle. Deaf from birth, with no formal formal education or art training, Castle worked with found, poor materials: cardboard, scraps of paper, soot and saliva constructing a visual system of recurring images, figures and signs. After the artist’s death his home was preserved as a museum with a permanent exhibition.

Stadt ohne stadt, 2026

«Stadt ohne stadt» is a study of the town of Marx, which has undergone five name changes throughout its history. Each renaming served not merely as a bureaucratic act, but as a symptom of a shift in political regime and a change in attitude toward the Volga German commune. The book explores how urban identity evolves following the demolishing of name, language, and community.
