No. 1, After the Singularity
A scientific journal about modern discoveries that are changing our lives. Each issue is an exploration of one phenomenon or technology capable of significantly impacting society, culture, and the course of history. The conceptual foundation is Benjamin Labatut’s book, «When We Stopped Understanding the World”—a non-fiction work on brilliant breakthroughs in the hard sciences, which was a 2021 International Booker shortlist selection.
«At the end of its life cycle, the tree offers one final, abundant harvest of lemons. <…> It is strange, he said, to see such abundance right before death. <…> This burst of fertility—it’s not a trait of plants, but rather an excess of our species, which grows uncontrollably in every direction.»

Three levels of information that allow for a comprehensive examination of the discovery, allowing it to be understood from the perspective of different disciplinary approaches: a scholarly article, a futuristic forecast, and a work of art.

The artwork is inaccessible to understanding on the same level as the other layers of information. It exists on the reverse side of the reveal—both physically and metaphorically.Grasping this layer requires time and effort: on the first interaction with the magazine, the reader knows something exists on the reverse side, but cannot yet perceive it. After reading all the available information, they are prompted to look deeper into the phenomenon, and by deconstructing the previous layers, reveal the next—to cut the pages and read what is on the back.
