I draw and design for print

I’m a graphic designer and illustrator. I make posters, festival identities, zines and my own illustrations.I take a project from the first sketch to the files for print. I come up with the idea, draw the illustrations and build the layout. Most of my projects mix design with hand-drawn illustration. Besides posters and identity, I’ve made a typeface, merch, a night light and Snapchat filters.Tools: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Figma, Procreate, Blender.

Explanation for Everything is a 2023 film by Gábor Reisz. A student fails his history exam, and the story turns into a political scandal. A poster series made at METU × HSE Art and Design School.DESIGN SOLUTION: The graphics show what goes on inside the hero before and during the exam: irritation, noise in his head, unrequited love, disagreement, confusion. The printed paper texture refers to newspapers and study notes. Each poster shows one moment from his life, and collage techniques carry his feelings in it.

[Case 02] Larry

Larry is a 2022 film by Szilárd Bernáth. A series of five posters made at METU × HSE Art and Design School.DESIGN SOLUTION: I chose black and white on purpose: color would lie in this story. Larry lives on the outskirts, on a farm and in an underground scene, between silence and voice, humiliation and dignity. His white face breaks through dense black, like a person trying to be seen and heard. The rhythm of dots and spots stands for rap: a pulse, a beat. I made this rhythm broken. The dots line up in even columns, then fall apart, like his stutter. So the spots work as music and as a scar. The pattern on his head and body refers to the farm and sheep, and the spray paint texture comes from graffiti and hip-hop culture.

Cultural Code: Pskov is a poster series for the Golden Bee competition.DESIGN SOLUTION: The posters explore the architecture of Pskov, my home region. I wanted them to carry the age, eclecticism and mystery of its old houses.

[Case 04] Flower Power

Flower Power is a youth festival for people who want to bring more green into their surroundings, meet like-minded people and learn how to care for plants. It takes place in the Jerusalem Botanical Garden. I designed the festival’s identity.DESIGN SOLUTION: In the logo, the letters «w» turn into curly script that grows like leaves and stems out of a simple sans serif. The palette uses shades of green, from dark leaf to pale sage, with a paper texture. Large silhouettes of garden tools, pruning shears, a flower pot and a watering can, hold the posters together. I applied the identity to a poster series, a wayfinding sign and a volunteer vest.

[Case 05] Age Boundary

Age Boundary is a group exhibition about how a person changes with age through boundaries: spatial ones and boundaries of power. It looks at how people obey power or use it, and how this connects to space. I designed the exhibition’s identity and merch.DESIGN SOLUTION: Paper strips stand for the boundaries. They weave together portraits of one person at different ages, and the same eyes look out from each of them. The strips are still paper, though: the boundaries hold a person in place, but they can be torn.
