Description
A printed publication exploring the phenomenon of elusive art, using dance as a case study to examine the impossibility of its complete capture.
Personal Interest
The project grew out of my personal interest in dance and my many years of experience dancing, which I started when I was four years old.
Concept
Unlike painting or sculpture, which persist as tangible objects after an artist completes the work, dance is an art form that must be witnessed in the moment. Every performance is unique and exists only for a specific duration. After it concludes, what remains are memories, embodied experience, photographs, video recordings, and other forms of documentation.
Problematics
The ability to record a dance does not mean the ability to fully preserve its perception. Modern technologies allow us to document virtually every movement of a dancer. However, even the most detailed recording cannot fully reproduce the atmosphere of a performance, the energy of the performers, the interaction with the audience, or the emotional experience of being present.
Project Goal
To explore the boundaries of capturing dance as ephemeral art, and to reveal the value of its immediate perception in the here and now through the format of an experimental print publication.
Project Team

Target Audience
Dancers, choreographers, performers, and individuals professionally involved with contemporary dance.
