The Bakhrushinsky Museum is more than just architecture. It is a stage upon which hundreds of stories unfold: actors, collectors, restoration finds, a glove bearing the trace of black makeup.
My collection is about what cannot be seen at first glance—about the moment when a facade reveals its true self. There is no hidden sadness beneath a smile here. There is the joy of discovery when silver thistles lie beneath a layer of paint, and the human being behind a role.
Concept
What lies beneath the surface? Behind the role is an actor; behind the facade is a structure; behind the makeup is a living person. Within the strict Gothic facade of the Bahrushinsky Museum lies a warm, almost fairy-tale dwelling. And beneath the layers of paint on the walls is an unexpected embroidery of thistles. This is about that moment when you look closely, peeling back layer by layer, and suddenly see the true, hidden beauty—in a person, in a building, in an ordinary object.
