Group project on creating «Beyond» portal hatches as part of the open call for the «Global City. Urban Universe» exhibition
Manholes—one of the indispensable components that complete the puzzle of any city. They are often overlooked or even bypassed. In our project, they become not merely attention-grabbing art objects, but portals to another world, allowing a glimpse beyond the familiar urban environment.
In my series, the manholes lead into the city of perfectionists—a space of ideal order and symmetry where human presence is reduced to simple geometric forms. Each manhole opens onto a flawlessly organized fragment of this world.
General Restrictions
The «On the Other Side» project is founded on a system of shared constraints that form a unified visual and semantic space. All works are unified by the circular shape of the hatch, the portal’s overarching theme, and the depiction of the hatch as a boundary between the familiar urban environment and a hidden, other world. The color palette for each design is restricted to using any two colors in combination with black and white.
I was responsible for the layout of the main catalog.
