Art placed in the public sphere becomes a form of communication. Anyone can manipulate it—from photographing an object for digital transfer into a broader field of interaction, such as the internet, to appropriation or destruction.

As soon as a work is placed in a public space, it is instantaneously alienated from its author. The object becomes, simultaneously, belonging to no one and belonging to everyone. Anyone is free to interact with it, even to commit an act of vandalism against it, although, legally speaking, this action will not be considered vandalism because the very act of placing the object in the public space without authorization is already considered vandalism.
