As part of the Poster Laboratory at the HSE Art and Design School, I created a poster for the concert featuring Vyacheslav Gaivoronsky, Andrey Razin, and Pyotr Ivshin at the «DOM» Cultural Center on September 30, 2026. The objective was to convey the character of musical improvisation through the interaction of photography and typography.
The first step involved selecting a photograph whose rhythm and mood corresponded to the music of the artists. Next, the text was assembled manually using printed material. According to the assignment requirements, only tape and adhesive paper lettering could be used.
I created the musicians' names out of Scotch tape, following the winding lines of the photograph. The elongated letters with curves weave into the image, and the cut-out printed text creates a more fragmented rhythm. The photograph sets the theme, which the typography then develops—thus, the poster conveys the principle of musical improvisation.
