Coffeeright — a conceptual coffee shop situated in the space between the courthouse entrance and the courtroom, dedicated to the possibility of resolving civil disputes through dialogue.
This project explores the boundary between formal legal procedure and personal human interaction. The familiar ritual of a shared coffee break becomes an opportunity to pause, hear another perspective, and discuss a possible agreement. The focus of the project is not the negation of the court, but the preservation of space for dialogue alongside it.
Hypothesis:
If participants in a civil dispute are offered a neutral space for voluntary conversation before the hearing, this may lower the barrier to communication and help people formulate mutually acceptable solutions. A familiar coffee shop setting can make the start of such a conversation less formal than the atmosphere of a courthouse corridor. The contrast between a rigid visual language and calm interaction can underscore the difference between clashing positions and seeking a compromise. However, the influence of sharp graphics specifically on the willingness to engage in dialogue remains a project hypothesis, not a proven psychological effect.
