In the Primorsky District of Saint Petersburg, a «Greka» has been spotted catching crayfish.
Residents of the Kolomya microdistrict encountered night fishing in the local Grafsky Pond for the first time
On the night of October 22–23, vacationers at the pond noticed an unknown man in a mask and fins underwater. «I was here from 9 PM when I arrived, and he was already swimming there. I thought maybe it was some kind of inspection—checking the water for pollution levels. I’ve lived here for 12 years, and I’ve never seen anyone get into the water, ” the eyewitness told our correspondent. Local teens also mentioned that around 2019, catfish were released into the water body, but they were certain the fish did not take hold, as the park and pond were being restored during those years.
Around one o’clock in the morning, a man in a wetsuit emerged from the water, and our correspondent asked him several questions. «I am a sea hunter; I’ve been coming here for three years now. The fish and crabs here are countless. I just caught 5–6 kilograms of crabs. There are pike everywhere; I almost caught them by hand.» The sea hunter introduced himself as Yuri and explained that he only fishes in this pond twice a year because the body of water is too small for him to come more often.
Amateur fishing is officially permitted in the Grafsky Pond, as it is considered a body of public water. However, since this area is within the city limits, fishermen are prohibited from using nets or traps.
