Concept
Contemporary culture perceives the body as an unfinished project requiring constant refinement. Sport becomes a tool for discipline and changing physical form, while corsets of various kinds demonstrate ways of external influence on the body: its correction, support, and fixation.
Through the corset as a constructive object, the research approaches the contradiction between improvement and constraint, care and control. Deformation is examined as a visual manifestation of a process where the body is continually changing under the influence of external structures and the person’s own efforts.
