Project Title: «Toby» Nightlight-Charger
Creator: Elina Uzbekova I study at KNN (College of Petrochemistry and Oil Refining), and since my father works at Sibur, I know about polymers and branding firsthand.
Concept: A nightlight-charger shaped like the mascot head of Sibur—Catalik. This is a functional item for a student that clips directly onto the headboard and doesn’t take up space on the nightstand. Unfortunately, the neural network isn’t generating images exactly as I envision them, so I have included a technical drawing.
Problem it Solves: In dorms, there is usually one outlet for two people and one nightstand, yet both students need to read and charge their phones. A standard nightlight sits on the table and obstructs the roommate. «Toby» solves this: it hangs on the bed, provides light, and charges the phone.
How it Works:
· Attachment: A universal clamp made of soft silicone (TPE) that secures behind the neck. It fits both pipes (2–3 cm) and flat boards (up to 2 cm) thanks to its ribbed surface. · Lighting: The body is made from semi-transparent polymer—the head emits a soft, warm glow from inside. The light does not shine directly into the roommate’s eyes. · Charging: Beneath the head is a flat platform (13×7 cm) equipped with Qi wireless charging (up to 10W). The phone is placed on the platform and charges. · Control: A touch button located on the glasses. A quick press turns it on or off. · Power: USB-C, with the cord running to an outlet. There is a hinge allowing the platform to adjust its tilt angle.
Materials:
· Body: Molded ABS plastic (impact-resistant, will not shatter if dropped). · Clamp: Soft silicone (TPE)—it does not slip and will not scratch the bed. · Light Diffuser: Semi-transparent polycarbonate.
Dimensions:
· Head Width: 11 cm · Overall Height: 12 cm · Depth: 3 cm · Ear Span: 13 cm · Charging Platform: 13×7 cm · Clamp: 5 cm (opening up to 4 cm) · Button: 1.5 cm
Why This is a «Product of the Future»: This is not a souvenir; it is a functional item designed for students. It addresses a specific dorm room problem, is made from Sibur’s polymers, and utilizes a recognizable brand identity. It is scalable for mass production and can be sold as practical merchandise.
