
The nightlight is not merely an object; it is an art object that crafts an atmosphere. It is designed to introduce an element of tranquil, organic magic and soft, diffused light into any interior.


For my primary material, I chose clay. A fungus arises from the earth. Clay is the animated earth—the primal matter. This is a direct kinship of origin, not imitation.
Reactive glaze is not merely a decorative technique; it is a means to achieving truth. It allows the ceramics not to depict nature, but to converse with it on equal footing, possessing the same visual and tactile complexity. The choice of reactive glaze is a conscious departure from perfect, «candy-like» smoothness. It is a decision in favor of the truth of the material and the drama of nature.
