About me

post

I’m Marina Ustinovskaya, a multidisciplinary designer focused on expressive interfaces, websites, and visual communication. My experience includes product and communication design at Ozon, a major Russian technology company and online marketplace. I’ve also worked on communication projects at Redis Agency, a studio specializing in branding and marketing design, and Red Collar, a digital design and development studio creating websites and digital products.I use Claude and AI-assisted coding to build animated interfaces, interactive prototypes, and custom graphics tools.I’m looking to join a creative UI/UX studio where I can combine visual experimentation with product thinking.

My projects

I’m interested in the point where a visual idea becomes something people can use. That might mean making an identity respond to sound or giving a complex tool a clearer starting point. These projects explore that connection through interfaces, visual systems and experiments in code.

ACT

A media platform for motion design and VFXMy role: Platform structure, UX/UI, design system and interface refinementProblem The design challenge was to bring visual research, projects and references into a coherent media platform while reflecting the experimental character of motion design and VFX.Idea Make visual discovery the starting point, with clear connections between each piece of work, its context and its creator. The interface would give the content a consistent structure and enough space to express its character.Solution I designed a categorized feed, project pages and a creator directory for desktop and mobile web. Large images carry the content, while expressive typography and bright controls establish hierarchy. The process included qualitative and quantitative audience research, a component system and refinements after interface testing.Result A set of desktop and mobile web interfaces with shared navigation and reusable components. The design connects browsing, project context and authorship within one editorial system.

Tala

B2B platform for generating video and media with node workflows and an AI agent. My role: Product audit, UX/UI, design system and design validation in code.Problem The original interface put model parameters and API settings before the user’s task of creating media. The challenge was to organize these capabilities into a clear generation workflow.Idea Build the experience around the creative task. A person starts with an idea and a prompt, then creates a pipeline manually or asks an AI agent to help.Solution After auditing the product and its competitors, I made the prompt the primary input and grouped settings by node. I redesigned the canvas, inspector and agent chat, alongside collections, templates and other product sections. Error messages explain what went wrong and the next step.Result A redesigned generation flow supported by TALA.DS, with three token levels and around 150 components. I checked the designs in code, corrected issues with states, contrast and navigation, and added automated checks to CI.

Homigo

A connected journey for home exchangeP2P service where travelers exchange homes directly. My role: Product structure, UX/UI across platforms, design system and communication materials.Problem Homigo needed a connected journey for finding a home, sending an exchange request and communicating with another member across web and mobile interfaces.Idea Treat the exchange as one continuous journey. Information about the home and its owner would support the choice, with requests and conversations connected to the same flow.Solution I designed the user flows and interfaces for search, property cards, profiles, requests, chat and settings. List and map views support different ways of exploring homes. A shared design system connects the web, mobile web, iOS and Android designs, including loading, empty, error and success states.Result A service design covering the path from search to conversation, supported by reusable components and documented interface states. Social media materials extend the same visual language into the service’s communications.

Electric lines

An identity that responds to musicVisual identity and a custom graphics editor for an electronic music band. My role: Visual concept, identity design, graphics and AI-assisted coding.Problem The design challenge was to translate the energy of Electric Lines’ music into a visual identity that could change across formats and compositions.Idea A power surge became the central metaphor. The identity would behave like an electrical signal, with letterforms and graphics that stretch, distort and react to different inputs.Solution I developed distorted typography, grainy imagery and acid green and purple accents within a black-and-white system. Through AI-assisted coding, I built a custom editor that generates and transforms graphics using music, camera input and photographs. I applied the visual rules to posters, covers, social formats and merchandise studies.Result A dynamic identity supported by an interactive tool for creating further variations. The editor carries the graphic concept into behavior, while the applications demonstrate how its rules work across formats.

Ozon

Design across products and communicationsSelected work within product and communication teams. My role: Communication designer, contributing to product interfaces and concepts.Problem My assignments covered different communication and product contexts. Each required a solution suited to its purpose and format, while fitting Ozon’s visual language and team workflows.Idea Connect the visual message to the task of each format. Product promotion needed to explain features, while community materials needed to communicate topics, people and events.Solution I created promotional materials, landing page designs and social content, and contributed to the communication design system. On product tasks, I developed hypotheses and interface proposals. I also worked on a new product concept under NDA and handed the designs over to the relevant teams.Result Communication assets for product and community initiatives, contributions to interface work and a product concept prepared for further development by other teams. The selected work shows my contribution across these different contexts.

My approach

I start by understanding the task: what people need to do, what might get in their way and what the product needs to communicate. I map the main flows and explore visual directions alongside them, so the structure and character of the interface develop together.I’m drawn to ideas that can shape both the look and behaviour of a project. Typography, imagery and motion help me build a visual language, which I carry through the screens, components and interaction states. I want the details to feel connected and give each project its own character.I use Claude to bring ideas into code, from animated interfaces to custom graphics tools. Working with a prototype lets me explore timing, transitions and responses, then adjust the design based on how it behaves. This experimentation is an important part of how I develop and refine my ideas.
