Character Concepts
IMA
— a spirited and cheerful girl who energizes everyone around her. She takes charge and never waits for someone else to solve a problem. Ima never gives up on her goals, even when the path is difficult. She is very inventive and always comes up with unexpected, bold solutions. Ima loves bright colors—her clothes, possessions, and ideas seem to shine with a rainbow. She is very active, never sits still for a minute, and manages to be the first everywhere. A smile almost never leaves her face, even in difficult situations. With Ima, there is never a dull moment; she has the ability to ignite anyone and lead them along. This girl is a little whirlwind of joy, perseverance, and imagination.
Nicco
— a calm and reserved boy, the complete opposite of Ima. He is very observant and notices things that others often overlook. Nikko is sensitive and emotional, but he doesn’t express his feelings as overtly as Ima. He is very kind and especially loves animals. Nikko is dreamy—he constantly daydreams, imagining various stories and worlds. He has a very vivid imagination, so he loves to draw. In his artwork, he expresses everything he cannot say aloud. Beside Ima, he seems quiet, but inside, he has an entire universe.
Location Concepts
Home—a metaphor for separation
In the rooms where life once pulsed, bulky cardboard boxes packed with belongings now sit. Light streams through the windows onto bare walls, and dark indentations from furniture mar the floor—traces of a presence that is soon to become the past.
Roof | A space of freedom, a temporary escape from reality
This is an island of freedom where the blue sky takes away all your problems. Here, above the antennas and wires, time flows differently: you can sit on the edge, dangling your legs into the void, and feel reality become nothing more than a distant hum below. But all of this is only a temporary escape.
Field | World of Imagination
This is a boundless world of imagination where everything is possible, and beyond the horizon lies everything that has yet to happen. It feels as though one merely needs to close one’s eyes—and a dream will burst through reality, coloring the sky with vibrant hues.
Script | Animatic
In a house cluttered with boxes, a calendar marked with the departure date hangs on the wall. Two characters lie on the roof, gazing at the sky, saddened by their imminent parting. Suddenly, an idea strikes them, and together they draw their dream on a piece of paper, folding it into a paper airplane. Leaning over the railing, they launch it into the sky, making a wish and imagining themselves running across a bright field under a sky filled with flying fish from their imagination. Their friends reach the edge, beyond which lies an endless sea—an infinite future. They swear on their pinkies to never fear growing up and to definitely meet again someday.
