Device Concept
In my project, «Nest,» the main character is a novelist suffering from dementia. She finds herself in an alternate world that physically manifests the symptoms of her illness. Due to her struggles with hallucinations and memory lapses, she takes notes in her journal.
Problems and Solutions
- The book isn’t always in your hand—you need to take it out of your backpack.
- Occasional hallucinations make it impossible to read the texts—you can wait or replenish your sense of reason.
- The book is locked for safety—you first need to unlock it by removing the bone-shaped fastener to which the ropes are attached.
- To use the notebook, you must carry a pen with you—you can insert it into the opening between the book and the ropes that hold it closed.
