The book is dedicated to the journals of Nikolai Vavilov from his expeditions, during which the famous seed collection was assembled. Thanks to the work of Nikolai Vavilov, seed banks have begun to be established in our country and around the world.
Project Composition
The main body consists of data from expedition diaries. The supplementary material covers general information about the VIS, the system of field stations established by Vavilov, and data on the collection of seeds and plants gathered by the great scientist, which laid the foundation for the later creation of seed banks in various countries. The second part begins with a document detailing the establishment of the Genetic Center of Plants in the Russian Federation, followed by an overview of modern seed banks in our country and globally.
Format 200×260 mm

Structure
The book is divided into two sections: historical and contemporary. Visually, this is expressed by the number of columns in the upper part of the strip. The first section features a wide column for main information and a narrow one for explanations, while the second section uses columns of uniform width across the entire strip. To zone the information into primary and secondary content throughout the book, there is a strip dedicated to quotes and brief data about Vavilov and genetics in general. The main text focuses on expeditions and is illustrated with documents and maps. Supplementary information concerns the VIR, the plant collection, and field stations. The second section is entirely devoted to modern seed banks and descriptions of future projects. The book concludes with photographs of plant seeds under a microscope.
