At the Garage Museum, a rug was created by hand using the tufting technique, designed by an artist, which became the centerpiece of a new play area. To ensure the game went beyond simple looking, Kristina Pashkova prepared a special booklet with activities. It offers tasks like counting apples and carrots, finding matching symbols, locating hidden characters, completing patterns, and performing other activities, transforming the rug into a large play surface.
This approach is characteristic of the artist’s practice. In her works, Kristina Pashkova engages with traditional craft techniques, reimagining them within a contemporary context. For her, weaving is not merely a means of creating a piece of art, but also an opportunity to involve the viewer in an interaction with it.
