Catalog and identity for the «Interstellar Silence» exhibition

In collective imagination, an artifact is always an object from another time or reality. To an archaeologist, it is an ancient tool; to an art historian, a masterpiece of the old masters; to a gamer, a magical crystal from a fantasy world. What unites them is the perception of the artifact as a static, self-contained object, a bearer of mystery. But what if the mystery lies not within the object itself, but in what it generates?

In Francisco Infante’s interpretation, the artifact is not an object but an act. A temporal intervention in nature—a gesture that gives rise to a dialogue between the crafted and the cosmic. In this interaction—the reflection of the sky in a mirror, the rhythm of lines on the snow—lay the true artifact. It became a bridge between the finite and the infinite, a visible metaphor for the incomprehensible essence of the Universe.

The artifact is not a material form, but the unique effect—the sensation of distorted reality—that it creates. It is a crack in the familiar world through which infinity is glimpsed.

This exhibition is conceived as a research laboratory for the viewer. By studying each piece and listening to their own sensations, the viewer becomes a co-author and creator of their own experience. They are tasked with defining for themselves: what in this specific fragment of artistic will becomes a true artifact for them? What resonates with their personal cosmic void?

The exhibition is a journey to the boundaries of perception, where art ceases to be merely an object and becomes an event—where the ultimate artifact is born in the dialogue between the artwork and eternity within us.
