Hey, I draw stories!

I’m Sasha Weis, an illustrator working with 2D illustration and comics. I love creating stylized characters, building strange little worlds, and filling my illustrations with jokes, unexpected details, and things you might not notice at first glance. For me, illustration is more than a single image. It’s a way to tell stories, develop ideas, and create worlds people want to spend time in. I enjoy finding the right visual language for my projects.

WHAT I DO

→ 2D illustration & visual storytelling
→ Character and world design
→ Comics & sequential illustration
→ Illustrated books & editorial projects
→ Creative concepts & storytelling

I like my illustrations a little chaotic, a little funny, and full of things to discover.

I’m interested in working with creative studios, publishers, brands, and teams looking for original illustrations with a strong personality. If your project needs a story, some unusual characters, or a fresh visual approach, let’s talk!

01 — CINDERELLA AND THE GLASS SLIPPER

Original size 1920x1010

A classic fairy tale, with a few unexpected guests.

An illustrated retelling of Cinderella, filled with expressive characters, playful humour, and tiny details hidden throughout the pages.

THE IDEA

I wanted to make the classic fairy tale feel more playful and accessible to young readers without losing its familiar story. I used a simplified, cartoon-like style and comic-inspired storytelling.

Original size 1800x1275

THE APPROACH

I focused on character expressions, funny situations, and small animal companions that follow Cinderella throughout the story. The comic-style layouts help reveal each character’s personality and make the illustrations fun to explore. You can view the entire project here.

02 — KHOKHLOMA: THE SAGA

Original size 1920x1010

Folk art meets a larger-than-life visual story.

A series of illustrated outdoor installations for Nizhny Novgorod that explore the history and evolution of Khokhloma, a traditional Russian decorative art style.

THE CHALLENGE

The goal was to turn cultural history into an engaging experience for people of all ages. Instead of presenting information in a traditional way, I wanted viewers to feel like they were stepping into a story.
Original size 1800x970

THE APPROACH

I created a storyteller character and his Firebird friend to guide visitors through the history of Khokhloma. The illustrations use a cartoon style and a limited palette inspired by traditional Khokhloma colors. I came up with a few merch pieces as an addition to the project. The installations work like a giant comic strip arranged in a historical sequence. They have interactive cut-outs, rotating elements, and three-dimensional details for kids to play with. You can view the full project here.

03 — VTB BANK CARD DESIGNS

Original size 1800x1275
Original size 1920x1010

Art history, but make it pocket-sized.

A series of three illustrated bank card designs inspired by famous artworks and artists, including Leonardo da Vinci, René Magritte, Vincent van Gogh and others.

THE CHALLENGE

The goal was to reinterpret recognizable references from art history in a contemporary way that would work within the small format of a bank card. There’s also a happy hippo design as a bonus for those who don’t like classic art.

THE APPROACH

I transformed familiar artistic references into stylised illustrations, using simplified shapes, expressive characters, and my own visual language. The challenge was to preserve the spirit of each reference while making every design feel playful and original. You can view the entire project here. The project received second place in the VTB illustration competition.
