The taste of Ugandan mythology through design.
ALORIA
«To Be Loved by Forest that Witnessed»
Aloria is not myth. She is our forest in Atiak
that remained through the war when people fled.
The forest is the only elder that remembers
the full story.
We call her a goddess becauseshe witnessed.

The red cloak is a symbol of the blood the forest drank; the bone crown is fashioned from forest bones (fallen branches carved to resemble bone); the staff is an Okii farming tool repurposed into a weapon. Standing in the dry forest with bare branches, leaves fallen like people—this protocol states that if you stand where the forest witnessed, the forest will testify that you belong again.

The costume Goddess Aloria was designed
by re-thinking various clothing material and giving back found textiles life. The details and accessories besides the purpose of design, they represent a story and a myth behind the designers' choice of material and placement.
