I prepared the photo series «Mr. Darcy’s Autumn» as part of the «Fundamentals of Photography and Graphic Design» course. The works were included in the final photo project and were graded by the instructor with a 9.
Through my photographs, I convey the atmosphere of Jane Austen’s 19th-century novel, Pride and Prejudice. The primary emotion of my photo project is the state of the novel’s protagonist, Elizabeth—a feeling steeped in the anticipation of love and constant questioning about her future. When viewers look at my work, they might sense a light melancholy, the expectation of an encounter, feel the crisp autumn air, and hear the rustle of pages.
The images place a strong emphasis on the historic architecture of Tsarskoye Selo, the tranquil park, and the depiction of autumn beauty. The selection of landscapes in the photographs is inspired by the portrayal of old England in the novel.
