The photo project «Soul of St. Petersburg» is a series of images that reflect my vision of the theme. In my photographs, I captured the city’s soul through divine light—a light that never fades. The Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood stands on the site of Emperor Alexander II’s assassination, and this tragedy reflects the centuries-old history of all of Russia, while the building’s Russian style embodies Russia itself. The overcast sky presses down on the cathedral like a curse and a heavy destiny, but the domes and windows continue to reflect and hold the light. The series coalesces into one idea only when viewed as a whole: the darkness around is immense, but the light remains.
