The photo project «Soul of St. Petersburg» was created as part of the educational course for the discipline «Fundamentals of Photography and Graphic Design.» The project includes a series of 10 photographs that reflect the atmosphere of night in St. Petersburg.
The main objective was to deconstruct the image of St. Petersburg by moving away from familiar tourist and grand locations, showing the city through silence and the melancholic nocturnal underbelly. The soul of St. Petersburg lies in the pauses, the emptiness, and the shadows cast by streetlights. At night, the city lives a secret life beyond the lenses of tourist cameras. The technical objective was to convey an atmosphere of contemplation, solitude, and subtle, ordinary beauty.
