Atli (Etzel) — Attila in The Song of the Nibelungs. Atli severs the final thread of the Song’s plot, as if proclaiming the collapse of the old world and the dawn of a new one. Antiquity gives way to the Middle Ages. The Atli collection includes pendant and table lamps, vases, and candle holders. All pieces are constructed entirely from brick fragments. These objects are an attempt to embody a deadly whirlwind—which destroys everything around it—in the form of an everyday object, yet they contain the seed of future life, planting it within the space–time–human being. Each object holds a powerful charge of vital energy, which, overcoming destruction, fills the surrounding space. The Hagen Fruit Vase from the Atli collection was featured in the selection of pieces representing the All-Russian Museum of Decorative and Applied Arts at the Intermuseum–2015 exhibition in the Manege.
