
A design compendium on North Korea, based on A.N. Lankov’s texts covering its history, writing system, cultural peculiarities, and what is absent from Korean culture.
The book features an open spine displaying part of the title. In the center, the chapter title is printed in black, functioning like a 38th parallel line. To make navigation easy, the chapter numbers are located on the page-butterfly folds.
This work was created as part of a student project: a «dream book» design. It compiles my personal preferences in typography, composition, and structure.
Inserts with a red overlay. When you flip through them, the word’s ending changes, which drastically alters the meaning.
Throughout the work, the question «why» is posed to the reader by the book. It expands to the scale of an entire spread toward the center.
