ATHLA Font

Athla—this is an accidental unicase grotesque with a slight slant and a sporty character, specifically designed for the Russian athletics series «Queen of Sport.» The typeface is excellent for headlines and large copy.

When creating the font, I was inspired by the shape of a classic whistle, traditionally used by coaches. This detail reflects the idea that «everything depends not only on the athlete but also on the coach.» Furthermore, the letter slant conveys a sense of tension and anticipation characteristic of sporting competitions just before the starting whistle blows.
