Hi! my name is Dita Aulya Septiani, you can call me Dita. I’m a Visual Communication Design student at Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Surabaya. As part of the ITS x HSE Art and Design School University competition, I have designed six alternative poster designs for the Russian film, The Return (2003).
The Return (2003)
The Return (2003) is a Russian drama film directed by Andrey Zvyagintsev. The story follows two brothers, Andrei and Ivan, who suddenly have to face the unexpected return of their father after 12 years of absence. Without explanation, their father takes them on a tense journey filled with challenges, trust issues, and intense emotional conflicts.
With melancholic cinematography and a mysterious atmosphere, The Return explores themes of family, coming of age, and loss. Therefore, I have designed several alternative poster concepts that portray the mysterious figure of the father, iconic scenes and objects from The Return, and typography that matches the mood of each poster. Furthermore, I have used different color schemes based on my design style to create a fresh and distinctive visual interpretation.
