The story of the American writer Jack London, «The White Fang», which tells the story of a half-wolf dog, the action of which takes place during the gold fever in Alaska, was first published on The Outing Magazine in 1906.
In the words of the author, life is presented to the reader as a harsh arena of struggle, where violence, blind accident and chaos reign. And the path from «the law of sticks and fangs» to love is possible only through patience. The white fang teaches that even a violent soul can flourish if it meets a man for whom power is not an instrument of oppression, but a means of protection.

Randall Clyser’s movie isn’t the first film to lead London, but it’s very close to her. Its shielding is not a word-to-word filming story, but a sensitive reading of it, in which the main focus is shifted to the dialogue between man and nature. The director makes the White Fang a full-fledged hero, whose storyteller, Jack Conroy (Itan Hawk), is almost oblivious to the history of the gold explorer. Their friendship with the half-wolf is structured in a systematic way — through attitudes, actions, shared dangers.
And if Jack London was wondering if it was possible for him to have complete happiness outside the wild, then the movie would say yes. Attribution is not a loss of freedom, but a gain through mutual affection.
The scenes of the wolf’s eyes, the operating decisions and the magnificent landscapes of Alaska create a sense of diving into the harsh but beautiful reality that London has written about. The White Blade is not a story of gold fever, but of gold of another kind: loyalty that neither rusts nor depreciates.
The White Klick on rent charges exceeded its budget by $20 million in the United States and Canada alone. He was a great success in France, where he became the fourth-largest film in 1991.
