1. You Can’t Retrain Them Jakob’s Law states that users spend most of their time on other sites—their automatisms are shaped not by your interface, but by others. 2. Fool-Proofing Effective design eliminates the possibility of making mistakes in the first place. 3. Seeing, Not Remembering Interfaces that display everything and require no retention in short-term memory reduce the user’s cognitive load. Don’t make people who use your system strain their brains.
