Concept
The [dive] project conveys the shift in auditory perception when submerged underwater. As depth increases, sharp and distinct sounds become muffled, blend together, and transform into the dense hum of the underwater environment. This patch allows users to control this transition and hear how the sense of space changes.

The project idea is inspired by Michel Rodolfi’s work, «Sonic Waters.»
Rodolfi created music intended to be listened to underwater. In his pieces, he explored how the aquatic environment alters the perception of sound. In my patch, this concept is examined through the sounds of the seashore—the surf and the cries of seagulls.

This block controls the dive depth. The dive depth level slider adjusts the filter cutoff frequency and processing intensity. The expr and mtof objects calculate the filter cutoff frequency, while pow sets a nonlinear change for an additional parameter. line~ smooths the transitions, ensuring the sound changes gradually without abrupt jumps.
