The project is centered around the Anikushin Workshop in St. Petersburg. The concept is built upon the contrast between the rigid architecture and the sculptor’s handiwork. A strict square grid pattern repeats the shape of the window frames and beams. The vase and circles at the base illustrate the dynamic rotation of a potter’s wheel. Red was chosen because it is the color of fired clay and terracotta. It functions as a vibrant accent against the gray concrete of the workshop. The pattern works differently on a silk scarf. On a flat plane, it is a standard grid. However, on the head, the folds of the fabric disrupt the straight lines, creating a living motion.
