Diana Narmania is an artist, illustrator, and participant in Russian and Abkhazian exhibitions. She is a graduate of the HSE Art and Design School with a Bachelor’s degree in «Animation and Illustration.» She also graduated from the Sukhum Art School with a major in «Painting.» She was born in 2003 and grew up in Sukhumi, Abkhazia. She currently lives and works in Moscow.
In her practice, she explores loss and ways of processing fading imagery, examining the influence of art on people and space. She works with graphic arts, ceramics, and painting. Concurrently, she develops her illustration practice, collaborating with the magazines «Pravila Zhizni» and «Snob.»

Statement of Purpose
My interest in the Master’s program stems from a desire to engage in teaching. Throughout my studies, I have been fortunate to have such excellent instructors, and it is thanks to them that I grasped the profoundly important role they play in the life of a young artist. Many of them have become mentors to me. Their attention, trust, and support have significantly shaped my growth as an artist. For me, teaching is not about imparting established knowledge; it is a collaborative exploration that encourages a deeper engagement with art and a clearer understanding of my own practice. This interest was solidified after my first teaching experience, which I undertook as part of a development program in the remote regions of Abkhazia, where I designed and led a series of sessions on self-portraiture.
I wish to combine my studies in the Master’s program, «Contemporary Technologies of Design and Art Education, ” with the focus on „Contemporary Painting.“ I believe it is crucial for an instructor to remain a practicing artist who strives for maximum realization within their profession. This is why I want to develop my teaching career in parallel with my artistic practice. I see the Master’s program as an opportunity to synthesize these two fields and cultivate a more mindful approach to working with students.

Ceramics Series: «Conditions of Perception»
Small ceramic figures represent ways of perceiving the world. The objects are constructed in such a way that they cannot stand autonomously. Their stability is only possible in contact with the wall against which they are leaned. This dependence on the surface transforms the surrounding space into an active participant in the composition. The vertical support becomes an extension of the body and simultaneously a condition for its existence.
