Beyond the obvious, straight to the point

post

I’m Dasha, a graphic designer focused on creative direction and concept development

I’m сurrently studying at HSE Art and Design School.Alongside my studies, I’ve gained professional experience working with clients and in-house teams on branding, digital design, and creative projects. My approach is all about finding unexpected yet meaningful ideas and turning them into distinctive visual solutions. I enjoy exploring different mediums, experimenting with visual languages, and challenging conventional approaches to design.I’m looking to collaborate with creative studios and agencies that value bold ideas, conceptual thinking, and a fresh perspective.

Selected works

This selection brings together academic and commercial projects across graphic design, visual identity, and creative direction. Each project explores a different subject, from music and product design to editorial graphics and event experiences.Despite their diversity, they share a common approach: finding unexpected yet meaningful ideas and translating them into distinctive visual solutions. Together, these projects reflect my passion for conceptual thinking, visual experimentation, and creating designs that go beyond the obvious.

01 / item — calendar

01 — Challenge & Context

ITEM is my ongoing graduation project — a digital platform for branded merchandise discovery, selection, and production planning. The platform helps users explore products, find suitable merchandise, and plan their branding and production. The challenge was to design a 12-month calendar for ITEM, combining practical functionality with a distinctive visual concept while extending the project’s existing visual identity.

02 — Concept & Development

ITEM’s visual identity is built around a simple idea: anything can be branded. Photographs of everyday objects are arranged within a modular grid, creating the impression of an endless catalogue of branding possibilities. The calendar develops this concept through twelve curated collections of objects. Each month features a selection of items inspired by seasonal associations, holidays, and the overall mood of that time of the year.

03 — Solution

The final outcome is a 12-month wall calendar with a cover, designed as a physical extension of ITEM’s visual identity. Each season is represented by a distinct colour from the brand palette, while the objects shift across the modular grid from month to month, creating a dynamic visual rhythm within a consistent layout system.

02 / instinkt — DJ-set visual identity

Original size 3840x2020

01 — Challenge & Context

INSTINKT is an audiovisual DJ set built around an emotional narrative. The challenge was to develop a visual concept that would complement the music, reflect its changing moods, and turn the set into a cohesive audiovisual experience.

02 — Concept & Development

The concept follows a character who receives devastating news and goes out into the city at night to process it. What begins as an attempt to escape becomes a journey through anxiety, grief, despair, and the search for acceptance. The track selection reflects this emotional progression. Starting with the fragile, melancholic sound of Radiohead, the set gradually shifts towards colder, more industrial and synthetic rhythms. The contrast between organic emotion and mechanical sound becomes the central theme of the visual narrative.

03 — Solution

The VJ-set and visual identity is built around fragments of real-life memories, distorted through pixel disintegration until they become almost unrecognisable. The pixelation represents the character’s reflection on the past, while the fragmented, ambiguous imagery conveys their emotional confusion and uncertainty about the future. Bright, distorted visuals emerging from darkness reflect the character’s fragmented state of mind. The set ends in silence, leaving the central question unresolved: has the character found acceptance?

03 / AstraX — office furniture concept

Original size 3072x1616

01 — Challenge & Context

AstraX is a concept collection of premium office furniture inspired by retrofuturism. The challenge was to rethink the conventional office environment and create a distinctive furniture collection that moves beyond traditional workplace aesthetics.

02 — Concept & Development

The concept explores the future as imagined in the second half of the 20th century — an era of space exploration, technological optimism, and bold visions of tomorrow. AstraX reimagines the office as an alternative reality where those futuristic dreams have come true. The collection embraces sleek, flowing shapes, glossy surfaces, and metallic finishes, deliberately moving away from contemporary biophilic design towards a more expressive, industrial aesthetic.

03 — Solution

The final collection transforms the office into a retrofuturistic environment that feels both nostalgic and futuristic. Sculptural forms, vibrant accents, and reflective materials create a distinctive visual language inspired by the space-age aesthetic, celebrating progress, innovation, and an optimistic vision of the future.

04 / Event Graphic Design — Sumi Ink Wedding

Original size 3072x1616

01 — Challenge & Context

The project is a collection of wedding stationery inspired by traditional Japanese sumi ink painting. The challenge was to bring the couple’s vision of Japanese-inspired stationery into an already established wedding design concept. The stationery needed to complement the existing decor and blend seamlessly into the overall atmosphere and visual identity of the celebration.

02 — Concept & Development

The concept draws inspiration from the aesthetics of sumi-e, where expressive brushstrokes, fluid ink forms, and negative space create distinctive compositions. The visual direction combines organic ink textures with contemporary typography, incorporating traditional East Asian vertical text arrangements on selected pieces. The goal was to create a cohesive graphic language that would complement the existing wedding decor while maintaining its own character.

03 — Solution

The final collection includes a bar menu, seating chart, place cards, digital screen visuals, and a wedding bingo game. Expressive ink graphics, vertical typography, and carefully balanced compositions bring the different elements together into a unified visual system. The result is a contemporary interpretation of traditional Japanese aesthetics, seamlessly integrated into the wedding environment.
