This poster was designed for the documentary Itam: A Sun Bear Story, supported by the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre to raise awareness of the endangered sun bear.
This poster highlights the years of conservation efforts devoted to Itam, the Bornean sun bear. In hope to reintroduce it into its natural habitat. What captured my attention most was the dedication behind these efforts, where I wanted my poster to visually represent that journey. The background shows time cycles passing from day and night symbolizing the ongoing dedication poured for Itam.
What stayed with me from the trailer was the uncertainty regarding whether Itam would survive in the wild. I interpreted this through the colors of the poster: the orange represent the destruction of wild forests, while adding a hint of green reflects hope, both the hope for Itam and the faith from humanity’s effort to protect wildlife.
