CROSSY — A 3-Piece Furniture Collection: Coffee Table, Lamp, and Shelf
CONCEPT
Fukinsei is a Japanese aesthetic principle that celebrates asymmetry, irregularity, and imperfection. It is rooted in Zen Buddhism and teaches that true beauty lies in controlled imbalance and uniqueness.
My project proposes an alternative to the orthogonal furniture that dominates the market. My collection of minerals served as the inspiration for the form and material in this piece—each mineral is not perfect, but beautiful in its own way. Crystals often form perpendicular to one another, merging into a single massive object. I aimed to create something equally monumental and graceful at the same time.

Assembly Options
TECHNOLOGY: The components consist of parts that connect via an X-cross pattern. Since all pieces are purchased separately, the furniture can be assembled in multiple ways.
MATERIALS: The furniture combines various textures. Some parts are made from larch plywood, which is treated with varnish to highlight its natural grain—a pattern reminiscent of layers of earthly strata. Other parts are made from colored glass, mimicking translucent minerals, which beautifully catches the light in the sun.
