Laminating original illustration based on the video game project «CROOKED COMPASS»
CONCEPT
Illustration inspired by an adventure game about a pirate crew’s journey across a surreal archipelago. A giant sea creature coexists with a tiny tavern, transforming the shore into a fantastical grotesque scene. Handmade linework, muted colors, and paper texture blend the coziness of an antique illustration with the sense of danger in the unknown. Glossy acrylic adds depth to the image, emphasizing the contrast between the drawn roughness and the smooth surface of the object.
LAMINATION
Lamination allows an illustration to transition from a digital environment into a physical space, transforming it into a standalone exhibition object. The glossy acrylic surface provides a visual contrast to the deliberately rough, painted texture of the image.
The added depth of the coating emphasizes the silhouette of the sea creature, the complexity of the tentacles’ intertwining, and the contrast between warm brown and cool turquoise tones.
The vertical format supports the scale of the central character, while the intimate size allows viewers to examine fine graphic details, preserving the feel of an antique illustration.
SPATIAL VISUALIZATION
The poster is intended for display in an intimate exhibition or interior space. Its graphic nature allows the work to function as a standalone decorative object, while maintaining a connection to the visual world of the game project. The hidden wall mounting creates a slight distance from the wall, and the absence of an outer frame allows the viewer to focus entirely on the illustration itself.
