Come as you are

The idea behind my «come as you are» project was to showcase the multifaceted nature of each person’s personality and style by combining contrasting objects and footwear. Within the factory concept, a washed black oversized t-shirt formed the foundation, displaying elements from my core project.

Fashion. Free format—an oversized loose-fitting t-shirt.Developed size—L.Back length—76 cm, chest width when laid flat—64 cm, sleeve length—23 cm.Material—dense knit fabric, presumably 100% cotton, density 180–220 g/m². Color—washed black. It features a round neckline with ribbed knit trim, short wide sleeves with a dropped shoulder seam, a straight silhouette, and a relaxed fit. The central element of the composition is a plush bear positioned on a purple boot, next to a tennis ball on a burgundy shoe. The contrast between soft textures, bright accessories, and the washed black fabric creates a striking visual image that unites playfulness and everyday aesthetics.Estimated print sizes: bear on the front—8 × 9 cm, tennis ball—approx. 6 × 6 cm; large photographic collage on the back—approx. 30 × 45 cm. Final print sizes and placement will be confirmed using the approved mockup before production.

Stages of Production

  1. A proprietary t-shirt design was created, inspired by the aesthetic of modern fashion photography. The composition’s foundation is a photo collage on the back. The front of the t-shirt features two separate images—a teddy bear and a tennis ball.

  2. Patterns for an oversized L-sized t-shirt are being developed, incorporating a relaxed, oversized silhouette and a dropped shoulder seam. The garment’s main components include the front panel, the back panel, two wide short sleeves, and a knit ribbing collar trim. The black cotton knit fabric, featuring a washed-look effect and accounting for seam allowances, is cut according to the prepared patterns. The planned garment dimensions are: back length—76 cm, chest width—64 cm, and sleeve length—23 cm.

  3. The t-shirt components are joined using overlock stitching. The shoulder and side seams are finished, and the wide sleeves with dropped shoulders are set in. The round neckline is framed with knit ribbing. The bottom hem of the t-shirt and the sleeves are finished with a double stitch. The sewing process preserves the relaxed, straight silhouette, the voluminous fit, and the characteristic texture of the washed black fabric.

  4. The images are prepared for high-resolution printing, retaining the color palette, texture, and minute details of the photo collage. On the front of the t-shirt, two separate prints—a plush teddy bear and a tennis ball—are applied using DTF printing, positioned at chest level. The back features a large rectangular photo collage depicting a teddy bear, a purple accessory, a tennis ball, a burgundy high-heeled shoe, and legs in stockings and a sock. The images are transferred using a heat press. The DTF printing technology allows for the reproduction of rich colors, complex graphic elements, and textural details of the images.

  5. After the prints are applied, the quality and uniformity of the printing, the accuracy of image placement, the strength of the seams, and the final product’s conformity to the designed aesthetic are checked. Additionally, the quality of the collar, sleeves, and bottom edge finishing is inspected. The garment undergoes a final wet-heat treatment, accounting for the characteristics of the knit material and the applied prints. The concluding stage involves inspecting the overall appearance of the t-shirt, the preservation of the fabric color, and the quality of the finished piece.
