COASTER

COASTERS — ceramic coasters shaped like vinyl records for mugs and glasses. A collection of ceramic coasters for mugs and glasses, inspired by the aesthetic of vinyl records. The surface of each coaster is adorned with an apple image that fills the entire area to the edge. The embossed grooves and central hole maintain the likeness of a vinyl record. The project reinterprets a musical object, transforming it into a functional interior piece and a collectible souvenir.

1. A model of a vinyl record with relief grooves and a central hole is developed. The blank is formed using the slip casting method into a plaster mold.
2. After drying, the piece undergoes a first firing. Then, colored decoration featuring an apple is applied, covering the entire top surface without a black rim.
3. A glaze firing is performed to secure the coating and decoration. After cooling, the surface quality, image clarity, and stability of the piece are inspected.

1. Material: Porcelain or ceramic body suitable for the chosen firing regime.
   2) Shape: A flat circle with embossed concentric tracks and a central opening.
   3) Surface: Colored, matte, or glossy, featuring a texture resembling vinyl grooves.
   4) Decoration: An apple image applied edge-to-edge without a black border.
   5) Dimensions: 10 cm diameter, 6 mm thickness, 4 mm central opening.

The main body of the piece is formed as a single unit, without joining separate components. The relief of the pathways and the central opening are incorporated during the modeling phase. Color graphics are applied using ceramic decal or underglaze decoration, taking into account the firing temperature. After firing, cork or silicone inserts can be added to the reverse side to protect the tabletop surface.
