Цифровое медиа о фотографии и визуальной культуре с собственной фотостудией
Медиа, которое превращает вдохновение в действие: смотри, изучай и создавай.
Media Goal
The goal of my media is to cultivate visual thinking and aid in the conscious creation of photography—from idea generation to the planning and execution of the shoot.
To achieve this, the application addresses three key functions:
Inspires: It introduces users to photographers, visual trends, and unconventional creative solutions.
Explains: It demonstrates how light, composition, color, and visual storytelling operate.
Engages in Practice: It offers interactive assignments where the user can build a concept or test a lighting scheme.
The dedicated photo studio serves as a physical extension of the media—a space where the concepts from the application can be tested in practice.
Future Media Topics
Segment: cultural and educational media with entertaining and interactive formats.Niche Topic: creating contemporary studio photography through the exploration of idea, light, composition, and visual references.Photography is viewed not only as a technical process but also as a facet of visual culture: the application explains how images establish mood, convey meaning, and relate to art, fashion, and everyday life.
Core thematic areas:

Editorial Principle: every piece of content must help the user not only learn something new but also understand how to apply it to their own photography.
Competitors and their analysis
In the Russian market, the application will compete directly with three groups of projects: photography media outlets, educational platforms focused on visual culture, and photo schools with dedicated studios.
A complete direct analog—one that combines a thematic feed, articles, mini-games for concept and lighting development, and an in-house physical photography studio—was not identified in the surveyed sample. This does not mean competitors do not exist; users can already solve these tasks using several different Russian products.
Therefore, below I divide the competitors into those most similar—based on content and user task—and tangential ones—based on specific features.
Direct competitors in theme and user task
Direct competitors in terms of subject matter and user goals include Prophotos.ru and «Proyektsiya.» Both projects help users learn photography, find inspiration, and develop visual thinking, but they employ different approaches.
Prophotos.ru is an online publication featuring articles, lessons, and reviews of photographic equipment. Its strengths include a large volume of specialized materials, accessible explanations, and practical examples for both novice and experienced photographers. The project assists users in mastering shooting techniques and generating ideas for their own work.
«Proyektsiya» is an educational platform focused on contemporary photography and visual art. It approaches photography not just as a technical process, but as an artistic practice. Its advantages lie in in-depth subject study, the development of an authorial perspective, and consistent skill-building through courses and workshops.
Related Competitors
The closest adjacent competitor is Photoplay. Having our own studio infrastructure is not inherently unique—Photoplay already integrates educational programs with studio facilities. Furthermore, its practical courses develop photographic vision, so we cannot claim that other projects only offer passive viewing.
Our potential advantage is not simply «content plus a studio, ” but a unified digital storyboard where the user independently:
— Finds inspiration. — Selects references. — Notes associations. — Formulates a concept. — Develops lighting plans. — Saves the plan and uses it during shooting.
Where does the application’s competitive advantage lie?
Russian projects are already closing certain parts of the user journey:
Our advantage is combining these stages, not the absence of alternatives.
Distribution channel
The primary channel is a mobile application for iOS and Android. Inside, it features a feed of videos, articles, mini-games, and the user’s saved materials. It is important to distinguish between the media consumption channel and the audience attraction channels:
Example user journey: a short video on VK → an article or assignment in the app → concept development → studio shoot. The application must remain useful even for those living in another city: developed ideas and schematics can be used in any suitable studio.
Target Audience Description
The audience is defined not by age or gender, but by the goals a person is trying to achieve with the product.
«I want to move from viewing to shooting my own content.»
Situation: The user saves beautiful photographs but doesn’t know how to create anything independently.
JTBD: «When I am inspired by someone else’s work, I want to understand their techniques and get an achievable assignment to try shooting my own shot.»
What the media offers: short analyses, explanations, and exercises with a clear outcome.
«I want to prepare for work in a studio»
Situation: The photographer is already shooting but is unsure about working with studio lighting and is afraid to waste rental time on experiments.
Jobs-to-be-Done: «When I have a photoshoot scheduled, I want to plan the light setup in advance so I can work with more confidence on set.»
What the media offers: interactive lighting exercises, scheme examples, and preparation guidelines.
«I want to develop a concept without repeating others' ideas.»
