For the «13 Stories» brief, I chose O. Henry’s short story, «The Gift of the Magi”—a narrative about love and self-sacrifice.
The story centers on a young married couple, Della and Jim, who, despite their poverty, strive to give each other the most wonderful Christmas gifts. The tale reveals their sincere feelings and selflessness, emphasizing that the true value of gifts lies not in their material worth, but in the expression of love and care. Through my illustrations, I aimed to reflect the key moments of the plot and convey the atmosphere of the work.
