Lightness of breath The sculpture is inspired by the fact of air and the act of breathing. Of particular interest to the artist was concept of the steady and calm breathing so vital for quiet existence and observation. The air is inhaled without resistance to bring life into being. Breath is a timeless gift of the universe, a pathway to serenity. This was the case in the past, this will be the case in the future. The mental concept — ‘lightness of breath’ — is transformed into physical reality by applying spherical textures and tranquil blue color to tough clay, thus breathing air into heavy materials and making the artwork flow in space.
