«The Beginning of Everything.» Transformer Table
Designer Elena Nikolaeva works under the name Elenanika.
The foundation of her work involves seeking inner support tied to the recognition of form. The term Gnosis describes the assimilation, perception, and identification of objects. Through changes in scale, deconstruction, and a love for ergonomics, she allows familiar forms from childhood to evolve into adulthood. Overall height is 110 cm; the tabletop diameter is 85 cm. The tabletop transforms—in just a few movements—from a coffee table standard of 45 cm to a dining table height of 70 cm from the floor.
Beyond its function, the details carry history and meaning: circles, for instance, embody movement—spirit, infinity, concentration. In the textures of Russian architecture, there is a hyper-ironic attempt to find a «Russian» code.
