About myself

what kind of artist am I?

post

I am a multidisciplinary artist, primarily working as a production designer across film, theatre, and events.

I work with space as a medium that carries meaning and can tell a story of it’s own. What matters most to me is creating spaces that feel complete and real, so that anyone who enters them can believe in that world.

Fields of practice

What mediums do I work with?

— Film: production design, environments and props
— Theatre: scenography and costume
— Events: spatial concepts, scenography

I believe thoughtful art direction brings something essential to any project.
It can reveal what is already present, make an idea more tangible, or introduce a new layer of meaning. Across performance, theatre, film and events, I explore how space, costume and objects can deepen the audience’s experience.

Аrtistic approach

Research & context

I begin with the brief and explore the context around the project: background of a place, or character I will be working with. This research helps me understand what the project needs and where its creative possibilities lie.

Ideas & development

Through brainstorming and visual exploration, I develop a concept, then refine and agree on the direction with the team.

Materials & production

Realisation is an equally important part of my practice. I work hands-on with materials, experiment with techniques and test different approaches to find the physical form that best expresses the meaning behind the concept.

Selected projects

What does art direction bring to a production?

These projects show how art direction responds to creative challenges across different media, adding new layers and bringing different ideas into focus.

In the garden

Outdoor performance in the Bauman Garden

Original size 1239x818

The problem:

How can everyday urban life become art?
How to artistically reveal its beauty in a busy public garden, making performers stand out while keeping the performance part of the park’s daily life?

The solution:

Transform familiar details into expressive costumes, props and actions: paint strokes become flowing ribbons, the simple act of tying your shoelaces becomes a dance, and a chess game in the park becomes poetry.

The takeaway:

Art direction can give things as simple as everyday gestures a new visibility, turn them into an art form inviting audiences to notice the beauty in what they usually overlook.

Moomin-troll and everything under the sun

Theatre production and costume design

Original size 5184x3456

The problem:

How can characters created by different costume designers belong to the same theatrical world? How to bring distinct costume designs and the visually rich library interior together into a coherent setting?

The solution:

The scenography used simple white mountain shapes to connect the existing costumes with the library space. Emerging between the bookshelves, these modular elements established a shared landscape, leaving room for each character’s individuality.

The takeaway:

Art direction can bring different creative voices into one coherent world, preserving the individuality of each character and designer.

Khutzpanit

Film production-design

Original size 2880x1192

The problem:

How can environments tell a story beyond dialogue?
How can the set reveal characters’ inner lives?
