AKANT — a jewelry collection dedicated to St. Isaac’s Cathedral and its architectural heritage.
The name derives from the acanthus—a decorative plant motif used in the ornamentation of Corinthian capitals and a component of the classical architectural language of a cathedral. Through this name, the project engages not with Isaac’s image as a whole, but with its details, ornaments, and plasticity, which form the basis for a contemporary reinterpretation of architecture in jewelry design.
Materials
For the collection, sterling silver (925 gauge) was selected. This material allows for the creation of complex, volumetric forms and the detailed rendering of the botanical ornaments from Isaac’s Cathedral. Metal: Sterling silver (925 gauge). Inlays: None. All decorative elements are made of silver. Surface: Mirror polish with a volumetric relief texture featuring detailed work on leaves, veins, and organic scrolls. The interior of the jewelry is laser-engraved with «Isaac’s Cathedral.» Manufacturing process: Digital 3D modeling, 3D printing of burnout models, lost-wax casting, manual relief refinement, sanding, and final polishing.
