A series of high-impression postcards featuring linocut prints titled «Heroes of the Reed Plains,» which reference Japanese myths about yōkai. Each letter corresponds to the name of the yōkai depicted beside it.
For the illustrated series of letterforms, the theme of Japanese mythical creatures—yōkai—was chosen. My custom typeface, Mehve, which draws its forms from natural shapes (the Japanese reed), was used.
The illustration style mirrors traditional Japanese prints depicting the existence of yōkai, and the accent color—typographic orange—references the woodblock printing technique.
