A series of seven split-screen video essays created for the «Dziga Vertov. The Kino-Eye» exhibition at the Zotov Center.

In Dziga Vertov’s view, all of cinematography will inevitably become the «kino-eye.» Fictional filmmaking will disappear, the false division between documentary and fiction will vanish, and what remains will be a singular form that is truly adequate to cinema as a technology.
Seven short video essays offer a way to view the history of film from precisely this perspective. Here, diverse films—created in vastly different contexts and with disparate intentions—are transformed into fragments, into editing material for «kino-eyes"—material necessary to demonstrate the infinite possibilities of the cinematic gaze.
