The Woman or Omnia mea (bag)

PROTECT STATUS: not protected

The Woman or Omnia mea mecum porto (I carry all my belongings with me) inspired by S. Parajanov’s art.

The collage is made on a woman’s bag. On the bag, there is an Armenian-Russian dictionary, symbolizing knowledge, communication, and memory. A transparent veil covers the entire dictionary—like a soft curtain that protects, hides, or reveals what’s inside, depending on how and when it is lifted. On the dictionary, a photo of Mona Lisa is reimagined: she wears traditional Armenian clothing, with a lace covering part of her face. Her smile is still visible through a small opening. She holds a brush, showing creativity, and wears a pearl ring—quiet symbols of beauty and strength. Three images of the Armenian goddess Anahit are glued on the dictionary page, from small to large, as if coming through the centuries. A tiny mirror is also attached, inviting the viewer to see themselves in the story. Some words from the dictionary—attraction, wonder, and wonderful—are highlighted, adding emotion and meaning. A line from Armenian poet Vahan Teryan is added: «In your dark gaze lies a tender lie, A delicate veil that always hides you».

A woman may seem to carry only a bag, but inside it, behind a gentle curtain, she holds her culture, femininity, memories, creativity, and strength.
