The project is a composting unit designed for private use, conceived as both a functional and aesthetically precise object for modern residential spaces.
The core concept involves reimagining a utilitarian garden fixture through the lens of industrial design. The composter is viewed not merely as a supplementary device, but as a full-fledged environmental element, comparable to architectural installations and outdoor furniture.
Development incorporated the principles of Aerated Static Pile (ASP) composting, where the steady supply of oxygen and control of gas exchange within the mass are crucial. These principles have been adapted for domestic use through the housing’s form, the perforation system, and a central ventilation shaft.
Furthermore, the form and construction draw inspiration from natural aeration systems, particularly the structure of termite mounds, where natural air circulation ensures stable internal conditions.

The housing integrates a sensor module that allows for the monitoring of environmental parameters and the potential to scale the system to more advanced scenarios as needed.
The central ventilation shaft enhances vertical circulation, ensuring uniform oxygen saturation without the need for mechanical aeration.
The lower door with runners allows for convenient compost removal, while the angled lid with an integrated handle protects against precipitation and simplifies loading.
