DAFES Printing

The festival’s Aydenics explores the nature of modern communication. We are living in an era of information noise, where messages and news are plaguing us every day with a chaotic stream. This visual chaos is becoming a starting point for thinking about the role of printing: can letters, when confronted, create rhythms and produce new meanings? The metaphor «Complicated in Simple» was the basis of graphic language. I’m taking a simple, technical Courier New typeface and confusing it, making the way of the look windy and indistinct. Combining letters with old-fashioned «Couple to Points» lines turns simple symbols into complex, confusing trajectory. It’s visualizing our way through the news noise — a chaotic but hidden order. In this deliberate chaos of lines and signs, the viewer suddenly begins to distinguish between new forms and images. This reflects the key characteristic of printing — its diversity: the letter ceases to be simply a sign and becomes a graph, a rhythm, and part of a large visual painting.
